Reflections and Red Eyes

In its own time, everything must come to an end. A good book, your morning coffee, and unfortunately the Caffeinated College Student. While I have loved sharing my tips and tricks with you guys each week, the semester is coming to an end, and its time for me to move on to my next marketing class before I prepare for my graduation in the fall. Learning each of these weekly concepts (and learning more about those I was already familiar with) and being able to apply them each week through this blog-keeping assignment, has been so much fun for me. Its given me practical application, its given me a creative outlet that I otherwise wouldn't have had with my 16 credit with four 8 week courses semester, and its allowed me to grow my portfolio by graphics and content creation. Now, for the final time, let's take a coffee break. If, like me, you're burning the midnight oil, then you might want to give my Red Eye recipe a shot. It'll certainly keep your mind awake.   ...

Analytics and Affogatos

Image
Over the past few months, we've talked about a lot of different digital and social media marketing concepts. From graphic design, to emails, to SEO-- the list goes on. But, how do you know if any of these things that you're putting your time and effort into are actually worth it? How can you tell if they're working, or if you want to continue using them? Intro: Google Analytics, a digital marketer's best friend. If you've never heard of it before, that's okay! I'll tell you a little bit about it after this coffee break, when I make one of my very favorites. If you've never had an affogato before, but love ice cream, then this might just be what you've been looking for all of your life.      Its divine, right? While you're enjoying that, let me break down Google Analytics for you. GA is a marketing tool through Google that, according to Hubspot 's Aja Frost, "integrates with Google's marketing and advertising platforms and produc...

Google and Galao

Image
Coffee shops near me. If you look at my Google search history, this is something you’ll find, and you’ll find that I’ve searched it often. If I’m out and about somewhere other than my hometown, I’m probably going to need help finding a place to caffeinate my college brain that isn’t a Starbucks. So, I pull up my phone, type my search into Google, and bam! A list of shops near me, along with their Google Business Profile. I’m sure you’re familiar with Google Business Profiles, but in case you need a refresher, let’s get coffee and come back. And hey, if you’ve never had a Portuguese Galao, there’s no better time than this to give it a try.      There’s just something about the frothiness of a Galao that makes it taste so much richer than a latte, wouldn’t you agree? But enough coffee talk, let’s get back to business profiles. A Google Business Profile is the result that comes up when you search for a business. Oftentimes, it’ll show the business ...

SEO and Steamers

Search Engine Optimization-- its something that, if you aren't familiar with it, you've probably at least heard it mentioned before. When it comes to digital marketing, SEO is... well, its crucial. If you know what you're doing, and how to squeeze every drop of usefulness out of SEO, then you hold what is arguably the biggest part of the key to website success. But, what is it? What does SEO even stand for? We'll get to that, but first I need coffee. Actually, caffeine is the last thing I need (I've already had two lattes today), so how about a steamer? Its coffee and caffeine free, but a steamer is no doubt my favorite warm drink. Maybe part of what makes me love them so much is the fact that no one (including my barista self) makes them better than my boyfriend. The best part of my weekend is when he wakes me up with a salted caramel steamer. Perhaps he can whip one up for me real quick...      Mmmm. Its comfort in a cup. Anyway, lets get back to SEO...

Email and Espresso con Panna

Image
Some say that email is a long lost form of communication-- I've even heard email referred to as "vintage," if you can believe it, even with its 4.3 billion users worldwide. In reality, email marketing is actually one of the best tactics your brand can use, and today we're going to talk about why you should incorporate email marketing into your branding, as well as my top three tips for successful email. But, you know the drill-- before we get into things, let's take a short coffee break. If you like a strong, yet creamy espresso, give my recipe for an Espresso con Panna a shot (get it, a shot?) It might just be your new favorite!      Much better. So, what exactly is email marketing? Well, take a look at your inbox. Those emails from the clothing place you subscribed to for that 15% off coupon? The unopened emails from that grocery store that always sends you  their weekly ad? Those trashed emails from your local coffee chain announcing the...

Dutch Bros and Doppios

Image
As a marketing student who wants to go into independent brand management, I am always thinking about social media marketing. I'll scroll past an ad or post and think about what they could have done better, or I'll see a product at work and think about how I would use social media to market it if that were my job. Determining how to best approach social media marketing comes largely down to knowing your target audience, knowing which platforms they use the most, and knowing what your goals are both long and short term, but there is still so much more to it. So, what exactly does a successful social media brand look like? We'll get to that in a minute, but first, I think its coffee time. If you like strong espresso, try my recipe for an Italian Doppio.      When looking at brands that succeed in their social media marketing, one of the first companies I tend to think of is Dutch Bros Coffee. In case you aren't familiar with them, Dutch Bros is a ...
